Organic retailers announced it last year at Medfel: the path to growth has resumed and seems set to continue, aided by repositioning and evolving concepts. These same players had warned against excessive conversion or abandonment of organic farmland… lest they fall behind. Upstream, organic production is not experiencing euphoria. In some sectors, such as apples, organic acreage continues to decrease to address a situation that has become critical for some operators. Therefore, how can we better anticipate the shocks associated with growth crises, so as not to be left behind? More broadly, how can we prevent the marginalization of organic agriculture in a context of growing awareness of environmental and health issues? Can we envision new forms of contractual agreements between upstream and downstream partners?
